History

 1919 
■ Establishment of Czechoslovak Gas and Hydro Association (Plynárenské a vodárenské združenie československé) (CSGaHA) in Prague. Mr. V. Vaigl became the first CSGaHA President.

1929
■ Emerged the idea of establishing the International Gas Union (IGU) on the foundation of that time French Gas Association (l´Union Syndicale de l´Industrie du Gas), the event had been attended by the Czechoslovak representatives from CSGaHA.


1931
■ May – establishment of a temporary IGU Committee with delegates from 23 countries. Mr. Tomáš Keclík was elected as a temporary IGU Vice-president.
■ June - 1st International Gas Conference in London, where IGU was founded officially.


1938 - 45
■ Union activities faded, only annual General Meetings were held.


1945
■ Resumption of CSGaHA activities through the first General Meeting, after  2nd world war held in Prague.


1951
■ Administrative cessation of CSGaHA activities and migration of a part of these activities in the Gas Association under the Czechoslovak Society of Science and Technology (CSSSaT).


1989
■ Restoration of activities through establishment of an independent industry association, calling the Inauguration Congress of the Czechoslovak Gas Association.


1990
■ 1st Congress of the Czechoslovak Gas Association held in Prague.


1991
■ Czechoslovak Gas Association becomes IGU member as a representative of the Czecho-Slovak Federative Republic.


1992
■ 2nd Congress of the Czechoslovak Gas and Oil Association held in Bratislava, CSGOA branches become active in existing gas companies (Mr. Tomáš Tichý had been elected as the President).


1993
■ Split into two national associations – Czech and Slovak, foundation of the Slovak Gas and Oil Association, confirmed continuity of the membership.
■ SGOA became IGU member.
■ Extraordinary (Inauguration) SGOA Congress in Poprad.

1994
■ 1st regular SGOA congress held in Bratislava.
■ SGOA representatives participated at the 19th World Gas Congress in Milan.


1997
2ndregular SGOA congress held in Liptovský Ján.
■ SGOA representatives participated at the 20th World Gas Congress in Copenhagen, and presented there the exposition of the Slovak Gas Industry.


2000
■ 3rd regular SGOA congress held in Bratislava.
■ SGOA representatives participated at the 21st World Gas Congress in Nice.
■ SGOA becomes DVGW member, membership signed in Nice.

2001
■ Foundation of a 100 % subsidiary – the Slovak Gas Agency (Slovenská plynárenská agentúra, s.r.o.) designed to organize common activities in gas sector.


2003
■ 4th regular SGOA congress held in Bratislava.
■ SGOA representatives participated at the 22nd World Gas Congress in Tokyo.


2006
■ 5th regular SGOA congress held in Vysoké Tatry near Štrbské Pleso.
■ SGOA representatives participated at the 23rdWorld Gas Congress in Amsterdam.


2008
■ SGOA representatives met the Euro-commissioner, Mr. Ján Figeľ in the European Commission premises in Brussels.
