EFG 2008 – Speech of Marcogaz President for the Programme

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

It’s a real pleasure for me to invite you to the 6th European Forum Gas Conference.

Following the great success of the previous events, Marcogaz continues with the organization of the Conference deciding  to hold the meeting  this year in the Eastern part of Europe in view of its important role in the European Natural Gas Industry, its successful gas business and its transit responsibilities.

Therefore I am pleased to inform you that this year’s event will be held in Bratislava, the beautiful capital of Slovak Republic.

The opening session will focus on the importance of keeping the European transmission system in a safe and reliable condition, so as to ensure the security of supply to the whole of  Europe.

Training and competences of personnel are essential to ensure the safe operation of the assets, particularly in this rapidly changing environment, so the second session will present both gas industry requirements and opportunities available from training centres.

A session on NGV related technologies will give a further contribution to a sustainable transport policy.

The session on gas metering and energy measurement will present new solutions to take also into account the possible differences in gas quality and composition.

The research Session, organized by GERG, the European Gas Research Group, will focus on specific elements of its recently published Research Roadmap, to illustrate the way in which R&D contributes to the strategic objectives of the European Gas Companies and to reinforcing the European gas market.

Marcogaz is organizing this forum with the support of SGOA, the Slovak Gas&Oil Association, which has the responsibility for the organization, in the prestigious Radisson Carlton Hotel of Bratislava, where I hope to see many of you.
